Life Update

I don’t know what happened.  Life kind of just hit me and I wasn’t able/willing to write any posts about my day or anything.  Working everyday takes a toll on my body and mind.  I’m going to try to write something at least every other day or so.

It’s been a little over a month and I haven’t been paid by Claire’s yet.  I’ve missed two pay periods and it’s really taking a toll on my finances because my checks from Forever 21 aren’t that great anymore.  Most of my hours go to Claire’s, and even though I give my availability to my manager at Forever to fill me in wherever I fit, she’s only been giving my 1-3 days per week for no more that 5-6 hours.  I’m not even sure if having 2 jobs is worth it anymore.  Next week I’m only scheduled to work on Sunday for some reason.

Other than the fact that Claire’s hasn’t paid me yet, working there is fairly easy.  Ear piercing has gotten a little less daunting and store operations aren’t terribly difficult.  I’ve been opening and closing for a while now and I’m finally getting into a groove for everything so that all the movements I make are quick and effective.  I knew it wouldn’t give me the kind of experience I’m looking for in terms of working in a high volume store with a number of employees under me, but it’s something to start with.

To be honest, I’ve already been searching for another job.  I haven’t decided which job I’d be letting go if I were to score a job offer somewhere else, but I know I need to keep moving.  I’m still not sure what I’m trying to do in terms of graduate school other than wanting to get my MBA.  I don’t know what to concentrate in.  Part of me wants to stay in psychology and potentially pursue IO psych.  Another part of me wants be in management.  Yet another part of me wants to dabble in marketing.  I have some many interests in different areas it’s really hard for me to decide what I want.  What my end goal is.

Anyway, other all that serioso stuff, I haven’t been up to much other than work and gym.  This past weekend I saw Tchami and it was great.  He’s the only one worth mentioning tbh.  DJ Snake shouldn’t have been the headliner.  Swear he lost material after 5 songs because he started replaying shit and playing music that wasn’t even his/his songs remixed by other DJs.  Tchami could’ve filled his slot with a ton of original content.  Pretty upsetting but I still had a fun night.  I need more reality breaks like last weekend or I’m gonna have a mental break soon.

Hump Day, Fun Day

Went in to work at 7am.  I worked with Jenn to set up the Spring Break launch.  There are actually a bunch of cute stuff out that I might end up buying by next week at the very least.

After work, I somehow ended up at Ulta?  Typical.

L-R: Aqualina Pink Sugar Hair Perfume $ 15, NYX Wonder Pencil in “Light” $4.50, Laura Geller Eye Dew in “Opal” $16, Revolution Vivid Baked Bronzer in “Ready To Go” $6.

Can someone explain to me how these four items rang up to be $40+?  I think I’m going to return the Laura Geller Eye Dew and the Bronzer.  The color pick up for the eye dew looked really nice when I swatched it on the back of my hand, but obviously it’s not the same surface texture as my eyelids.  So when I put it on my eyes it wasn’t as vividly pearlescent for my tastes, even with primer on.  As for the bronzer, it didn’t match the tone of my skin for my liking.  It was kind of orange but the quality is decent for the price.  Maybe I’ll go more in depth with my beauty purchases in a different post.

Afterwards, I went home, got ready, and headed out to Chicago to meet up with Madaine at Bop N Grill.  It was so good to catch up and spend time with her.  We’ve both been so busy with work and life in general that we hadn’t been able to talk (other than on Twitter) or see each other.  I also haven’t eaten at Bop N Grill in ages.  Every time I’ve gone I’ve always gotten a burger, but I wanted to try their plates this time and I’m glad I did.

We filled ourselves up and headed to DePaul to pick up Ryan so we can all drive over to UIC for the event.  I was there mainly to see Ian Eastwood, but the actual program was enlightening.  It was hosted by UIC’s APhiG to raise awareness on Domestic Violence. Between performances they threw in some facts about domestic violence, a lot of which I was aware of from my sociology and psychology courses (school works!).  There were also personal testimonies that almost had me crying in my seat.

Ian performed and it was great. He was out promoting his Dance Mixtape “AdultLessons” (peep that wordplay) with his performance and selling merch.  After, he graciously answered a ton of questions from the crowd and took pictures outside of the room with everyone.  I was so nervous, I couldn’t deal.  He’s just a regular ass kid from Chicago dancing because he loves it but I still lost the ability to speak properly when it was finally my turn to meet him.  He signed my instax and it is now my treasure.  We later saw that we made it onto his snap story as well, so that was pretty cool, nbd *screaming inside*

I dropped Denden off at the Roosevelt station and Ryan and I realized we were extremely hungry so we went to Seven Treasures for 554 and it was such a great idea.  It was the perfect night cap.

I had such a great day.  It was a nice, exciting change of pace from my regular day to day.  It’s going to be hard to come by these kinds of days now that I’m working 2 jobs but I’m gonna try to fit in as much fun as possible because I’m only young once, y’know?

Blog Launch

I moved here from Blogspot in search of something new.  I deleted all my old blogs, which is crazy to me because I’m crazy sentimental, but I thought it was for the best to leave all of that behind me.  I still have my tumblr intact but I’m still thinking about whether or not I want clear that out too.  But it’s difficult because I’ve had it for YEARS.

I wanted to go back to blogging because I feel like I’ve lost a lot of my creative outlets.  At least ones that are easy to jump into.  Whenever I start drawing or painting I get completely lost in it and can’t let it go until it’s finished.  Those types of endeavors are exhausting and end up being more stressful than therapeutic in the long run.  I’ve missed writing about things that are important to me, current events, various happenings in my life, and etc.

That said, I’m not sure if I want to make this blog public yet because I’m not sure how *deep* I’m going to get into things.  I might make a separate private blog for more personal bits.

I’m also going to try bringing my DSLR around with me again.  Looking back on my old posts I noticed that I used it a lot for selfies, OOTDs, and just out and about.  I want to get back into that.  I felt awkward at the time because I felt like I’m taking pictures of EVERYTHING and people were snickering at me.  Times have changed and even though people still give a side eye to those making weird faces for snapchat, it’s pretty commonplace now to see people standing around taking pictures of seemingly insignificant things.

Anyway, I’m not sure if I want to have an actual focus for this blog.  It might end up being a brain dump, like my twitter feed but on steroids and not constrained by a 140 character maximum, but little more mature than my tumblr.  I don’t know.  We’ll see what happens.
